Boxing with God

I had a wonderful time working on a low-budget SAG film over the weekend. The casting agent contacted me early last week. I spoke with the producer on the same day and she booked me as one of the 10 angels. We got to play in heaven and we fought with God.

It was great to see some of my friends again. Some of us had worked together last year on the national commercial "Santa" for Capital One. And I met some new mates, too. Everyone was a little person. It was fun to see my fellow actor friends work. Some of them have been working quite a bit; others not so much.

Part of being an actor is not being afraid to take chances. So, I got to dress in full army gear, crawled in the mud, shot paintball rifles and was shot at. We were running in the woods, hiding behind trees, and shooting rifles. It was awesome. I hung in there with the guys and it was great.

The next day we were in full angel attire including wings. We were like children, playing with toys. I had a blast watching my friends perform using green screen technology. I was able to bring out the little girl in me and just laugh, play and have a good time.

We had very long days and after the first day all I wanted to do was go home and soak in the hot bubble bath and go to bed. Driving around downtown LA with all the lights and leaving the studio was awesome. I had to pinch myself.

My agent was very pleased that I got this job. Hopefully it will turn into more work in the future. The team was amazing, they made sure we were all comfortable, they had chairs for us, water at all times. They were great, I wish all of our projects were like this.

I'm Booked for a Film

I'm booked for a film! Very exciting as a Casting director emailed me last week. Then I received a call from NY, we talked and now I'm booked. I believe it is a SAG film and I'm doing background work. But it is a film and even though I don't have any lines (that I know of), it is work and it is a paying gig.

I received notification of an audition for a really big project, of course working on the same day as the film. I asked my agent to see if she could some how get me in for another date & time. Hopefully, she'll be able to do that.

A hectic week but it's good to be working. I don't even have my Christmas tree up. It's been a tough year and I will be so glad when the new year comes in. Trying to stay positive, professional. My goal for next year will be new headshots, more training and more opportunities.

I was asked to audition for Vagina Monologues again. But I did that already and I don't want to go backwards. I want to go forward. It's a worthy cause and I will attend the show, but don't want to be in the show.

My goal is to work on strictly SAG projects, and moving up the ladder in my acting and writing career.

Adelante!

POLIO Store Now Open

I am very excited because I just opened an online store for Polio survivors. My store has merchandise such as tee shirts, golf shirts, baseball caps, license plate holders, etc. I would like to bring about an awareness of Polio and the fact that thousands contracted polio. Polio is not something you overcome. It stays with you till the day you die. For those who contracted polio, they must live with this everyday. There are others who never received the initial diagnosis of polio. They may not even be aware that they had it.

My intent is to bring about awareness and in turn, educate the public. The March of Dimes was actually started as a public fundraiser to help bring money in for research and to help find a cure for polio.

There are some polio support groups out there. And there are organizations like POLIO Today that help polio survivors connect through information on the web. You can even upload a video and tell your own story.

My online store is through Cafe Press and my link http://www.cafepress.com/69442395
I want to use a portion of sales to help our local polio support group. Thank you for reading this blog and by checking out my site!

Weekend in LA

I had a really good time in Los Angels over the weekend. My friend wanted me to house sit for her and it was no problem as I really love cats.

I had an opportunity to go and see some of the museums I have been wanting to see. In a way I wanted to do some studio tours and I do have a friend at Universal but he was working on a film at the time. If you have an opportunity to work in this business you must grab every opportunity to do so. So I totally understood. I did feel bad about missing another friends invitation to watch his band perform Saturday night. He totally had a ticket for me but I'm afraid I over did the activity on Saturday and I was wiped out. Fortunately, he understood and invited me to his birthday bash in January. I will definitely go to that event.

And my friend, Susie Albin Najera invited me to a Showtime taping of her husband,Rick Najera's show, "Daddy Diaries". I am so excited because I missed that show when he performed it in San Diego. Very excited as that event is coming up on December 11. I really feel it is important to help my people in front of or behind the camera. I am not perfect for every role so if I know of a friend who is, I will encourage him or her to go for it!

I went to the Museum of Tolerance and it was so moving. We spent the entire day there and while I knew we would be there for awhile, I did not expect that I wouldn't want to leave. It was very hands on and history buff that I am, I enjoyed it. I definitely want to go back again and show my support to such a worthy organization that is dedicated to informing people about the dangers of intolerance.

And we ate at one of my favorite places again, Jerry's Deli in Studio City. So I'm sitting there with all this food that I ordered, a corned beef sandwich, a cup of chicken noodle soup and who walks right by me? Nicole Kidman on the way to the Ladies room! She looked beautiful in a blue grey suit, hair pulled up. Very little makeup and it showed off her blue eyes beautifully. I have interviewed enough people to know when they want to be left alone. And she definitely had that look of gee, I hope no one recognizes me here with my husband, Keith Urban. She returned to her booth which was very close to mine and they ordered and ate breakfast. After she left I asked the waitress what Nicole ordered and she said they ate egg whites with spinach! Nice, and now I see why she looks like a size 2. I guess that is why she is making movies like "Nine" and I am still auditioning.

Gotta love Hollywood!
